Large and medium blow molded products generally only use HDPE as raw material. Looking at the blow molding products market in the HDPE consumption structure in the three major regions and countries where the plastics industry is developed, the United States, Europe and Japan, Europeans account for about 38% of the total HDPE consumption, while the United States accounts for about 34%, which is the same as Europe. HDPE consumption occupies the largest market share, while Japan is dominated by film consumption, with blow molding products accounting for about 15%. The consumption structure of HDPE blow molding products in the United States is as follows: liquid food bottles are the largest, accounting for 31.8%, followed by household, industrial, and cosmetic bottles, accounting for 22.8%, industrial barrels are the third, accounting for 7.2%, and the fourth is motorcycle oil. Bottles accounted for 6.4% and others accounted for 29.1% (automotive parts such as tool boxes, trash cans, industrial parts, and automobile fuel tanks). Industrial barrels are used for packaging chemicals, lubricants, paints, cosmetics, etc. There are different types of wide-mouth and square-mouth barrels, and the lid is injection molded. The development direction is multi-variety, diversification, specialization, large-scale, and more. Layer co-extrusion and large and medium-sized containers are developing relatively fast.


2. Domestic manufacturers and markets

Large and medium-sized hollow container manufacturing equipment has higher requirements than general small blow molding machines. In addition to the storage head, the parison (wall original) control must keep up, so not all plastic machinery factories can produce. For example, Beijing Plastic Products Factory, the first company in my country to produce 200-liter closed plastic drums and lined drums, was introduced from the German Bekum company. Later, Heilongjiang Zhaozhou County Plastic Packaging Products Factory, Jinan Plastic No. 9 Factory, Shandong Qingyun County Plastic Factory, Dalian Plastic No. 13 Factory, Jining Plastic No. 1 Factory, Qingdao Plastic No. 5 Factory, etc. have successively introduced 2000 liters of L-ring plastic drums from abroad. In 1986, Qilu Petrochemical Research Institute and Jinling Petrochemical Plastic Factory introduced BM-201 blow molding machine from German Mauser Company to produce 200-liter self-supporting L-shaped closed rigid plastic barrels for international general dangerous goods and transportation packaging. It is the second-generation product. . Qilu Petrochemical is mainly used for scientific research, and its output is not large. Jinling Petrochemical's output was not large at the beginning due to insufficient raw materials. The output in 1990, 1991, and 1992 were 425t, 760t, and 504t respectively. Same as the product did not keep up with the development (still staying in the second generation, and foreign countries have developed to the fourth and fifth generations) and systemic problems, product sales have not developed much, and even shrunk and declined. In 1993, the first domestically-made large blow molding machine designed and manufactured by Qinchuan Machine Tool Plant was put into operation at Qingyun Plastics Plant in Wujiang, Jiangsu Province, and achieved good results. Later, it has cooperated with many companies and German and Taiwanese manufacturers to produce and Joint venture production methods produce large and medium-sized blow molding machines, such as Guangdong Jinming Plastic Equipment Co., Ltd., which uses Taiwanese technology to produce blow molding machines with a volume of 230 liters. Qinchuan Machinery Development Co., Ltd., controlled by Qinchuan Machine Tool Group Co., Ltd. (formerly Qinchuan Machine Tool Plant), can now produce 8 types of blow molding machines with different specifications. In addition, Zhangjiagang and other places also have several plastic machines that can produce large and medium-sized hollow containers. plant.

According to statistics from the Light Industry Council, in my country’s HDPE consumption, films account for 34.2%, pipes account for 16.3%, monofilament/woven bags account for 15.5%, hollow containers account for 13.7%, turnover boxes account for 8.7%, and corrugated containers account for 5.4%. Cable material accounted for 2.4%, sheet metal accounted for 1.6%, and others accounted for 2.2%. The proportion of hollow containers used is relatively small, but it has increased compared with previous years. According to the plan of relevant departments, the meeting will be opened to 18% in 2005, and the average annual growth rate is higher than the average growth rate of HDPE consumption.


3. Current status and requirements of raw materials:

Domestic HDPE resin grades for hollow molding are small and low output is one of the reasons that restrict the development of HDPE hollow containers in my country. Before 1997, almost all of them were imported resins. With the internationalization of the market and the intensified competition, the output and proportion of domestic blow molding HDPE resins have been increasing year by year. Rising, the current market available grades are 5200B, 5300B, 6500B, 6145, 1158. The first three grades are only suitable for small containers, packaging detergents, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, bleaching agents, food, etc. However, due to their performance is not as good as imported grades, such as Phillips's 5502 and 5202, many users have become accustomed to using imported grades. The large blow molding brands of the device belt are 8200B, 1158, 6145, and 6147. Actually, only 1158 and 6145 have been produced. Both are Qilu Petrochemical products and are all butene copolymer brands. In 1998, only 1158 was produced, accounting for Sinopec’s HDPE resin output. 1.4% of the total. 6145 is suitable for 10-100 liter containers, and 1158 is suitable for 100-200 liter containers. The price of 6145 is basically the same as that of general HDPE resin, and 1158 is about 200 yuan per ton more expensive than 6145. Imported materials are still more expensive than 1158, more than 500 yuan per ton, and 1158 is still competitive.

Blow-molded hollow containers of more than 100 liters require high-molecular-weight HDPE resin to meet the strength requirements of extrusion blow-molded preforms, resistance to melt re-extension, and the melt flow rate (MFR) of 6145 is 15g/10min (21.6kg load), 115g is 2g/10min (21.6kg load), so the production of 1158 is relatively difficult, and the output will be reduced, so the price is slightly higher. It is said that domestic blow molding products of about 100 liters still use 1158, which not only has high parison strength, rigidity and durability Environmental cracking is also better than 6145.

4. Development suggestions: (1) The production of HDPE hollow containers in my country has made certain progress with the development of our processing machinery and the development of raw materials, but overall there is still room for development. Large and medium-sized barrels are used for various packaging, including The export packaging of liquids and fuels has reached a certain scale, but as with processing equipment such as pipe profiles, there is a problem of insufficient operating rate. (2) The transportation volume and cost of large and medium-sized barrels are large, so the place of origin should not be too far away from the user. It is better to be within a radius of 200 kilometers. There should be a fixed customer and demand. Large and medium-sized barrels are used for chemical products. Waiting for packaging, processing plants and exports must be processed for dangerous goods production and export licenses (product quality must pass customs, such as ensuring that the wall thickness is uniform and reasonable, and no accidents occur during transportation and handling). (3) The importance of product users and the market is undoubtedly the first as mentioned above, but some specific problems must be solved, such as advanced molds, the cost is quite expensive, there is also the problem of air supply, whether the height of the plant is sufficient , The quality, energy consumption, and material consumption differences between domestic and imported equipment need to be further investigated and implemented.
